Origin and cultivation
 

Banana is native to Southwest Asia. It is thought that came to Europe in the tenth century later were taken to Africa and South America by Portuguese sailors. Today, growing in tropical and subtropical areas of the world.

Common names
 

The scientific name of the plant is Musa. The banana term derived from the Arabic word banan meaning finger.

  • Thedwarf variety, hardest and smaller, came to the Canaries in 1516. expanded from there to the Americas.
  • The plant is often used to give a tropical feel to the garden, just as it requires care and takes up little space.
  • A good cure for a hangover is a drink made from bananas, honey and milk.
  • The inside of the banana peel has antiseptic properties and is used in emergencies to wrap wounds and cuts.
  • The skin if applied on a mosquito bite, eliminate itching and swelling.
  • The ashes of stems and leaves are used as salt.
  • The stems produce a paper pulp which is produced.
  • Banana starch glue can be prepared.
  • The fiber sheets are used to make Japanese yen banknotes.
  • The banana trees are not trees, are herbs.
